Information You Submit
Names, phone numbers or addresses entered in a search form are sent to the third-party provider furnishing those results; our servers do not retain a search copy. A direct message is visible only to the extent of what you include, and it is used to answer you.
Routine Technical Data
Ordinary hosting logs can include an IP address, browser type, viewed pages and timestamps. Aggregated review helps maintain the service and understand page use. Basic analytics or advertising measurement may rely on cookies or similar technology.
What We Do With This Data
Operating the site, fixing problems, counting traffic, improving pages. We do not sell visitor lists and we do not build profiles of individual users.
Links to Other Websites
We link out to county and state records portals, library collections, archives, and third-party search tools. Their privacy policies, not ours, govern what you submit there. That is especially true of the sponsored search results, which a third-party company provides.
Who Might See Your Data
The service providers that host and support the site process server logs for us. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above. We disclose data when a valid legal process requires it, and not otherwise.
How We Protect Your Data
The site runs over an encrypted connection and logs are kept only as long as the purposes above need them. There are no accounts here, so no password or profile of yours exists on this site to be exposed.
Users Under 18
The site is meant for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18; if you believe a minor has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data held by a website. Illinois Personal Information Protection Act, 815 ILCS 530, addresses security and breach-notice duties; the research identified no universal Illinois deletion system for references in public records. Because little information is retained here, a request generally means checking contact mail and server logs. Use the Contact page. Records held by Illinois, Cook County or Berwyn offices remain under the custodian’s control.
Updates to This Policy
Any change to this policy will be posted on this page. Using the site after a change means you accept the updated version.
